UNIS Enters USEN Rankings as "GimmeSummer☆" Hits 3 Million Views
UNIS has made it onto Japan's USEN Oshi-katsu Request chart. This fan-vote ranking decides which songs play in stores and streets nationwide. The news comes as the music video for "GimmeSummer☆" reaches 3 million views on YouTube. These milestones cap off a summer in which the eight-member group dominated Oricon and Billboard Japan with their debut mini-album and landed a feature interview with Real Sound.
Riding the USEN Wave
USEN's Oshi-katsu Request, called "Oshiriku" by fans, is a daily voting platform. Listeners can request songs, and the top tracks get played as background music in shops, malls, and public spaces across Japan. UNIS is familiar with this system, as their previous single “Mwah…” peaked at 68 during its promotional run. The group's chart presence comes from the momentum of "GimmeSummer☆" and the broader "UNI☆Sparkle!" rollout.
The rollout has shown solid results. Starnews reports that UNIS's first Japanese mini-album debuted at No. 4 on the Oricon Daily Album Chart upon release. It also landed a top-15 spot on the Billboard Japan Top Albums Sales chart. The English version of "GimmeSummer☆," released on August 8, is climbing iTunes charts in the Philippines, Ireland, Luxembourg, and Italy.
Real Sound Spotlights the Album's Two Sides
Real Sound featured "UNI☆Sparkle!" on August 12. They framed the mini album as a mix of Heisei-era pop nostalgia and the polished skills UNIS developed as a K-pop act. The article argued that beneath the album's cuteness lies the discipline of a K-pop group—vocal control, formation work, and stage presence—that gives "GimmeSummer☆" and its four companion tracks lasting appeal.
Member Hyeonju thanked fans, saying the mini album was made with EverAfters "in mind." Bandmates Yunha, Kotoko, Nana, and Seowon shared thoughts on individual tracks, from the Okinawa shoot for the "GimmeSummer☆" video to the fun heart-shaped hand gestures in the choreography.

A Busy Summer, With More to Come
With the USEN entry, "GimmeSummer☆," reaching its 3-million view mark, and Real Sound coverage, UNIS is having one of its best runs in Japan since debuting with "MoshiMoshi♡" last year. They have sold out several Japanese fan events tied to the album's release. F&F Entertainment has promised that UNIS will return to Korea for new activities after their Japanese push, keeping fans eager for the next announcement.
Commentary: A Comeback Tease, But Still No Word on the Contract
UNIS's special contract from Universe Ticket lasts two and a half years and will expire in September 2026. Any extension needs a new agreement between the members and F&F Entertainment. So far, the agency hasn't commented on renewal. This silence has loomed over recent milestones like chart placements, sold-out events, and the USEN entry, even as EverAfters celebrate.
What keeps hope alive is the itinerary. UNIS's English "GimmeSummer☆" release suggests they are preparing for their next Korean comeback after Japanese promotions end. F&F has kept UNIS's schedule busy, avoiding a slowdown ahead of September. For fans eager for a contract extension, the tease of a Korean comeback without disbandment news feels promising. Whether this leads to an actual renewal announcement remains uncertain as the year progresses.
