UNIS Feature on arWeb Released After 'GimmeSummer☆' Hits USEN Weekly Top 5
UNIS scored an arWeb feature on Aug. 31, days after their summer single "GimmeSummer☆" climbed Japan's USEN charts, according to arWeb and allkpop. The spotlight caps off a strong month of Japanese promotions for the eight-member group.
Inside the arWeb Interview: Childhood Dreams and Behind-the-Scenes Talk
A feature on arWeb puts UNIS in front of Japan's trend-focused readers. The outlet rarely covers K-pop. So the slot signals real crossover buzz for the group.
The arWeb interview dives into the group's Heisei-era summer concept. It also covers their "Ichigo Ichie" character collab. Members shared their childhood dreams too. Nana said, "I was born in the Heisei era, so when I heard this concept was 'Heisei,' I was really happy!"
Elisia recalled wanting to be a singer from age 10. "I held onto that dream and worked hard my whole life, and now I can be in UNIS," she told arWeb. Other members dreamed of other paths. Seowon wanted to be a lawyer. Yunha once aimed to be a manga artist. Gehlee dreamed of being a princess. They all found the idol path instead.
According to PR Times, arWeb is the official web magazine of fashion magazine "ar," published by Shufu to Seikatsu Sha. The print magazine launched in 1995. It targets women in their 20s with hair, fashion, and beauty content. The site renewed in December 2020 to help women "love their current selves." It covers hair, fashion, and lifestyle stories.
That readership is the point. A spot on arWeb puts UNIS in front of Japanese women who may not already follow K-pop, filed right alongside the J-pop idols and actresses the site normally features. For a group still building its Japanese fan base, this arWeb feature carries as much weight as the chart numbers, since lifestyle media reaches readers most K-pop outlets miss.
Making Waves on the USEN Charts
"GimmeSummer☆" ranked third on the USEN Oshikatsu Request Ranking daily chart. It placed fifth on the weekly chart. USEN holds the number one market share in Japan's store background music market. Its songs play in shops and public spaces across the country. A high rank signals real public taste, not just fandom power.
allkpop reported on August 29 that the track is reaching listeners beyond UNIS's core fan base. The bright, refreshing summer sound is built for casual listening. Its growing play in stores has introduced UNIS to a wider Japanese audience. Read also: UNIS Nabs No. 3 on USEN Daily, Top 5 Weekly: Seowon Drops Comeback Hints
The "Ichigo Ichie" Collab and a New TikTok Filter
UNIS partnered with the Japanese character brand Ichigo Ichie, allkpop reported. Ichigo Ichie is a nostalgic character franchise closely tied to Heisei-era Japan, which fits the throwback concept behind "GimmeSummer☆." A new TikTok filter extends the partnership to fans. The effect, posted at TikTok's UNIS×一期一会 filter, lets users try the look themselves.
Kotoko told arWeb the "Ichigo Ichie" collab felt personal. "I have loved the character since I was young, so this was a huge honor," she said.
With USEN buzz, an arWeb feature, and a live TikTok filter, UNIS keeps building their Japan base. Fans can watch whether the "GimmeSummer☆" wave climbs even higher on next week's USEN ranking.
