UNIS Lands on Oricon and Billboard Japan; English "GimmeSummer☆" Released Worldwide
UNIS's first Japanese mini-album UNI☆Sparkle! debuted at No. 4 on the Oricon Daily Album Chart and No. 15 on the Billboard Japan Top Albums Sales chart, sweeping both major Japanese charts. The eight-member group also topped the iTunes J-Pop Albums charts in Canada and the Philippines, as well as in Germany, the United States, Singapore, France, and Australia. UNIS is following that up with an English-language version of the title track "GimmeSummer☆," released at midnight on August 8. The rollout caps a whirlwind month for Jin Hyeonju, Nana, Gehlee Dangca, Kotoko, Bang Yunha, Elisia, Oh Yoona, and Lim Seowon, who have already sold out two rounds of fan events.
Chart Sweep and Global Reach
According to Starnews, UNI☆Sparkle! "immediately reached fourth place on the Oricon Daily Album Chart upon release" and "secured 15th place on the Billboard Japan Top Album Sales chart," announcing what the outlet called a successful comeback. Sports Khan reported on August 7 that these results reflect "synergy between a range of Japan-original songs and local activities," noting that "the steady communication built with local fans since debut has borne fruit".
The title track "GimmeSummer☆" reached No. 4 on the Philippines iTunes K-pop chart and appeared on charts in Ireland, Luxembourg, and Italy. At the same time, the included track "BBYBBY (Baby Baby)" also climbed into the upper ranks of various charts. JTBC reported on August 7 that the album topped the iTunes J-pop Album chart in both Canada and the Philippines, further cementing UNIS's global chart presence.
English Version and Japan Promotions
Encouraged by Japan's enthusiastic reaction, UNIS released the English version of "GimmeSummer☆" via online music platforms at midnight on August 8. The group decided to showcase the English version while keeping the original's melody and bubbly hook intact, swapping in English lyrics, a move UNIS' label framed as a way to widen the song's reach beyond Japan and Korea.
The group's Japan promotions have been equally relentless.UNIS's official Japan fan store has now run through two rounds of the "UNI☆Sparkle!" release-event bundle. The initial announcement noted the first batch sold out fast enough that a same-week restock went up on July 30, and that restock sold out too, prompting the store to open a third sales window from August 10 to 12 ahead of an online meet-and-greet event on August 25.
Ichigo Ichie Collaboration and Korean Comeback Ahead
UNIS partnered with Ichigo Ichie (一期一会), a long-beloved Japanese character IP, for a special collaboration. All eight UNIS members were reimagined in Ichigo Ichie's characteristic artwork. The collaboration extended to a special "GimmeSummer☆" music video and limited-edition collaboration stickers distributed to attendees at release events. The album itself blends Japan's Y2K sensibility with UNIS's signature vibrant energy, combining a refreshing summer atmosphere with the members' fresh charm.
Behind the Japan push, F&F Entertainment has already flagged what comes next: the agency said in June that UNIS would move directly into production of a new Korean album once the Japan promotion cycle wraps. With the August 25 fan event still ahead and English-market streams climbing, the bigger question for UNIS now is how soon that Korean return actually lands.
